Introduction to Lagoa, Portugal
Lagoa hotels invariably jostle for position at one of the town’s innumerable beaches which have undergone extensive municipal renovations over the past five or ten years. This is a beach resort hotspot in the heart of the Algarve and tourists flock here from all over Europe in the peak summer season to take in some surf and sand. Hotels in Lagoa that don’t directly face the water will offer alternate views and proximity to the town’s wealth of heritage sites or alternatively, the wine growing parts of the island which are an ever growing export market. There are plenty of activities to enjoy in Lagoa beyond the beach, but the beach remains king for the time being, at least. Lagoa hotels can also take the shape of campsites and lots of families descend here for their summer holidays and join the many students and backpackers camping out under the stars.
