Introduction to Braga, Portugal
Braga is a city situated in the Minho area of North Portugal, one of the most beautiful, unspoilt regions in the country. It is also home of the Universidade do Minho providing the city with a large student population. Although the Minho is rich in traditions there are many good hotels in Braga with modern facilities. The city centre is the place to go in the evenings and has a pleasing mix of upscale fine dining and cheap eateries catering for cash strapped students. For visitors not staying in one of the centrally located Braga hotels excellent bus services and taxis are readily available. The 12th century cathedral is among the most visited attractions in the city that has many fine old buildings, museums and galleries worth visiting. On the outskirts and easy to reach from most Braga hotels is Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary a late 18th century church that is often visited by tourists.
