Introduction to Amarante, Portugal
The hillside city of Amarante in the Oporto region of Portugal is situated amid glorious countryside and commands views of the River Tamega and the distant Serra do Marao Mountains. This is not one of the country’s main holiday areas as they tend to be on the coast so they are not many hotels in Amarante to choose from. As the town is small, getting around the sights is reasonably easy on foot even though there are several steep areas. Top sights are the monastery and centenary bridge (Mosteiro and Ponte de S Goncalo). Getting to the hotels in Amarante is easiest by car though you can take the train through the beautiful countryside to get to the town. With the limited choice of Amarante hotels many visitors opt to stay in the larger towns of Braga or Chaves that are only a short drive away and have more amenities for tourists to enjoy.other spellings: amarantehotels, otel in amarate, amerante hote, hotell amarente, emarante hotes
