Bus: the local buses and streetcars are operated by the MPK, on an extensive system of routes covering the metropolitan Krakow area. Several ticket options are on offer: a ticket valid for one hour allows you to use any buses going in any one direction for a one-hour period after the ticket has been validated; while passes for periods of 24, 48 and 72 hours are also available, providing for unlimited travel during the period of validity.
Train: Krakow’s train station handles only suburban, regional and European services. No rail service is available within the city.
Bicycle: there are bike lanes in many parts of the city, including a long stretch along the Vistula river and also through the Planty park, which encircles the main square. Krakow Bike Tours is an operator offering two-hour tours during the summer season.
On foot: as much of the area of interest to tourists is closed to traffic, walking is often the only way to get around. Distances, however, are quite manageable and the sights are spectacular.
