Introduction to Krakow - Wesola
Located in the heart of the city, Wesola is a district of Krakow in Poland. Wesola is home to three noteworthy churches, the neo-Gothic Basilica of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, which was constructed by Franciszek Maczynski in 1909. This church's furnishings, decorations and architecture are among the finest samples of Polish sacred modern art; the 11th century Church of St Nicolaus; and built in 1634, the Church of the Immaculate Conception of St Mary, which houses the Discalced Carmelites monastery. Other notable attractions include the botanical gardens that date from 1779, some notable 19th century hospital buildings, the Krakow Opera and Rakowicki Cemetery. Wesola hotels are located within walking distance of the district's main tourist attractions. Krakow has many other districts that are worth exploring, including the fantastic World Heritage listed medieval Old Town.Visit our Krakow Travel Guide
