Introduction to Gdansk - Sopot
Sopot is a pleasant waterside town in north-central Poland along the southern coast of the refreshing Baltic Sea. There are more than enough sights to satisfy visitors here. The town is full of health-spa resorts. Europe's longest wooden pier is also found here, extending 515 metres into the Bay of Gdansk. One major event here is the Sopot International Song Festival, which is the biggest event of its kind in Europe besides the Eurovision Song Contest. Sopot hotels make it easy to get to the exciting seaside regions. A moving attraction here is the Monument to the Armia Krajowa (Home Army), which was the major native resistance group in WWII targeting the German Army in Poland. There's also the equally powerful Memorial Stone for Danuta Siedzikowna, who was a medical staffer in the 4th Squadron. Lightening things up, there's the Crooked House, an irregularly-styled home created in 2004.other spellings: soptohotels, otel soopt, spoot hotell, ospot hote, sopot hotle, zopot hotes
