Introduction to Bydgoszcz - Brda
Brda is the river than runs through the Polish city of Bydgoszcz. Visitors will find plenty of Brda hotels along either side of the river, in the city centre. Strolling alongside the river is a popular past-time for locals and visitors alike. The river is flanked on either side by many historical buildings, of which the old granaries are worth seeing. Near the stunning Opera Nova (New Opera) is an exquisite bronze sculpture that appears to float over the river. In fact, Crossing the River is not the only artwork here, as there are several famous bronze sculptures dotted around the city, the most famous being Luczniczka (the Archer). The market square and Town Hall, in the old town, are historic and beautiful. From almost anywhere in the city, visitors will be able to seeing the imposing Vincent de Paul Basilica. It is famous for its large neo-Classical dome, mosaics and stained-glass windows. There are numerous museums in the city that are worth visiting, the best being the modern art museum and the Pomorskie Muzeum Wojskowe (Pomeranian Military Museum).
