Manila Travel Guide - Eating Out
The best Chinese restaurants can be found, not surprisingly, in Manila's Chinatown. Located in Binondo, a short jeepney ride from the Manila City Hall, Chinatown is home to a variety of fine Chinese restaurants, each one offering its own specialty. Lido is renowned for its coffee, Chuan Kee for its soups, Lingnam for noodles, and the President Restaurant for fine Lauriat dining.
The districts of Ermita and Malate are regarded as Manila's tourist belt, a bustling area packed with hotels, restaurants, and cafes. Many of the finest restaurants are located inside five-star hotels, the most popular being the Peninsula and the Holiday Inn.
If you want to experience traditional Philippine dining, you may have to travel outside of the tourist zone, as the restaurants here are largely westernised. Try one of the native restaurants such as Kamayan, Barrio Fiesta, and Kayumanggi, where you can enjoy traditional Filipino cuisine.
