The world-famous Filipino hospitality makes the country almost legendary in the Southeast Asian region. Owing to more than 300 years of association with Spain, Filipinos live life with a passion that is more Latin than Asian. In fact, it was recently named one of the happiest countries in the world.
The Philippine is the largest English speaking country in Asia, making it ideal for Western tourists and travellers. It is very easy to ask for directions, to seek help and even to bargain because even street vendors speak and understand basic English.
The Philippines offers the visitor a multitude of tropical beaches to choose from as well as a laid-back atmosphere and exciting tropical parties. Every island is blessed with long white sand beaches, rich marine life and exotic flora and fauna.
The Philippines’ primary beach is the 4km white beach of Boracay, recently named the ‘finest beach in the world’. Surfers will also find Aside from beaches, the Philippines also boasts stunning lakes, rivers and waterfalls.
Local favourites include exotic baskets, weaves, brassware, pina cloths, custom figurines and embroidered items.
Tourists from the United States and most European and Asian countries can enter the country without making prior visa arrangements, subject to some restrictions.
