Introduction to Tagaytay, Philippines
With its cool elevated climate, eye-popping views over Taal Lake and tiny volcano, Tagaytay is a perennial favourite among Manila's residents for a quick getaway when the heat gets unbearable in the capital. The main attraction is the unique arrangement of Taal Volcano and Taal Lake, which swirl around each to create a magical scene. Boat trips, dropping passengers off on the small island in the middle of the lake, can be arranged for a closer inspection. Tagaytay is a major tourist destination in the Philippines and consequently it has a wealth of quality restaurants, bars and comfortable Tagaytay hotels. On the down side, it can get busy in the summer. A handful of nationalistic memorials, flower farms and lush public parks offer a day or two of sightseeing, with plenty of more exotic destinations as well as the Philippine capital within easy reach.
