Introduction to Tagaytay - Mountainside
Tagaytay sits 2,500 feet above sea level and benefits from a cool climate, with low humidity and plenty of rainfall. It is considered to be the second summer capital in the Philippines, following Baguio City. The Tagaytay Islands are the location of Taal Volcano, famous for being one of the smallest yet most active volcanoes in the world. Tagaytay hotels afford stunning views of the volcano and lake, particularly those on the Mountainside. At night, the lake is covered with the tiny lights of fishing boats and the views are spectacular. Visitors can find plenty of accommodation from budget lodgings to the most luxurious holiday resorts in this region. The closest airport to Tagaytay is Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the capital city, Manila. There is plenty to see and do in the city including daytrips to the Mabani Shrine, which is home to the remains of the late Apolinario Mabini, a famous Filipino writer whose work led tremendous nationalism in the Philippines.
