Subic Bay has transformed from a US naval base in the 1990s to a popular beach resort with fantastic facilities for Scuba diving. The range of hotels in Subic Bay is not huge and the best of the accommodation can be found overlooking the stunning bay. Within about 20 minutes of the shore are numerous wrecked ships in addition to the reef that attracts divers. The wrecks are a mix of those sunk during WW2 and during the war between the Spanish and the Americans in 1898.
