Introduction to Palawan - Coron
Palawan is one of the furthest west islands of the Philippines and is located in the South China Sea. It is also a province which includes the main island and a number of smaller islands including Coron Island. Coron is also a municipality which encompasses the entire island and neighbouring Busuanga Island. It has a main town by the same name and many beautiful hotels in Palawan that are used by those who visit the area for its top diving facilities and stunning beaches. For views over the main town, visitors can climb Mt Tapyas, the site of a Hollywood style sign and a cross. There are also many natural sights to enjoy, such as the birdlife at the crystal-clear Kayangan Lake and the mangrove ecosystems of Kingfisher Park. Kayaking at Twin Lagoon is a great way to appreciate the rock formations here while snorkelling is the best way to admire the rocks at Barracuda Lake.
