Introduction to Palawan - Busuanga Island
Palawan's Busuanga Island is one of the best places to go diving in the Philippines. There are a number of destroyed Japanese battleships in the surrounding waters, offering diving enthusiasts ample opportunity to explore these shipwrecks. There are around five diving schools located on the island that train beginners and take experienced divers out to the best diving spots. Outdoor activities are popular on Busuanga Island and include jungle trekking, horseback riding and mountain biking. Tourists mostly do these activities close to Mount Tapayas, which offers a wonderful view of the sunset. Island-hopping is a favourite with tourists and it is possible to rent six-seater boats at the island's pier. There are a number of small deserted islands close by where it is possible to camp for the night. Neighbouring Calauit Island is a large game reserve where African wildlife wanders around freely. Busuanga Island hotels are typically resorts that are connected to diving schools. The island is a one-hour flight from Manila, with arrivals landing at the island's small airport, a 40-minute taxi ride from the largest town, Coron. Visit our Palawan Travel Guide
