Introduction to Palawan - Apulit Island
Few places in the Taytay region of Palawan in the Philippines are as tranquil as Apulit Island. There have been many Apulit Island hotels in this marine sanctuary over the years, but only one major resort can currently be found on the island. This island can only be reached by first arriving at the small local airport, then taking a jeepney along a dirt road, and finally, boarding a small boat to Apulit Island. The resort cottages have thatched roofs and stand on stilts overlooking the clear warm water. Massages and scuba diving classes are available at extra costs. Snorkeling to nearby Isla Blanca and kayaking to another island named the Pavilion, known for its limestone formations and hidden lagoon, are also recommended. Visitors may even dine privately on the beach after dark, when both the cottages and their surrounding limestone cliffs are illuminated.
