Introduction to Negros Occidental - Bacolod City
On Negros Island, western Philippines, is the province of Negros Occidental. It is a popular area for those on beach holidays, and for those who wish to take part in water sports such as diving. The provincial capital is Bacolod City, situated in the west of the province, and a lot of good Negros Occidental hotels are located here. The city is bursting with historical sights such as Fort San Juan, which has been used as a jail since the city was under Spanish control. Other notable landmarks include the Fountain of Justice, situated adjacent to the Old City Hall, where the Filipinos officially took over from the Spanish upon their surrender. The centrally located Bacolod Public Plaza is the city’s version of New York’s Central Park. Here park-goers can enjoy walks, visits to the Unknown Soldiers Monument, and witness cultural events. Churches are present on just about every street corner, but visitors who can only visit one should make it to San Sebastian Cathedral, which was finished in 1894.other spellings: bacolod cityhotels, bacolod city otel, bacolod city hotell, bacolad city hote
