Introduction to Manila - Binondo
Known as Manila's Chinatown, Binodo is also the city's main business and finance centre, not to mention it serves up some of the city's most exotic food. Arguably the world's oldest Chinatown, the district is home to Binodo Church, which dates back to 1596. There are a number of impressive Chinese temples here, including Kuang Kong and Seng Guan temples. Also of interest is the Arranque Market, which sells all sorts of exotic foods such as snakes, pigeons and rabbits, and is definitely not for the faint-hearted. Caravajal Street is a good alternative for queasy visitors as it consists of fresh fruits and vegetables, and houses plenty of noodle houses and Chinese grocers. Most Binondo hotels are mid-range and within walking distance of all of the attractions in the area. Manila's walled city of Intramuros is just on the other side of the River Pasig.Visit our Manila Travel Guide
