Introduction to Cotabato, Philippines
Cotabato, also called North Cotabato, is one of the few landlocked provinces in the Philippines, and sits in the heart of the island region of Mindanao. Life in this part of the Philippines revolves largely around the great Pulangi River, which is also known as the Rio Grande de Mindanao and runs for some 300kms, feeding the province's fertile plains. In the last decade, the area has been transformed from one of the poorest in the country to one of the most vibrant economies. In the last few months of every year, huge numbers of tourists descend on Kidapawan, the provincial capital, to enjoy climbs of nearby Mount Apo, the tallest peak in the country. Hotels in Cotabato range from luxury establishments in major cities to far-flung resorts and eco-villages. The vast Liguasan Marsh is a huge expanse of swamp, marsh, rivers and lakes. Driving around is eased thanks to the constant expansion of a modern highway network. Davao City is home to one of the busiest airports in the Philippines.other spellings: catabato otel, catobato hotell, cotobarto hote, cotobarto hote
