Sogod is a sleepy fishing town in the north of Cebu Island which has gradually emerged as one of the best places on the island from which to scuba dive. The town has developed its tourism industry to accommodate visitors who want to enjoy the beaches and clear waters of the Camotes Sea. The dive sites around this part of the island are less busy than those in other places, making them more attractive to visitors who prefer a laid-back atmosphere. Sogod hotels offer decent resort-style accommodation without being as expensive as other resorts on the island. For the best beaches, head to the edge of the town, such as Alegre Beach, which is quiet and has the clearest waters. For those interested in the local economy, it is possible to take a habal-habal taxi to Gerona Farm, where workers give demonstrations about how they farm and sustain their community, and it is possible to take away some local produce.
