Introduction to Cebu - San Fernando
San Fernando is a municipality on the island of Cebu, which has seen an influx of beach resorts opening in recent years. Tourists generally stay in San Fernando hotels to experience this pleasant area that is not far from the major cities on Cebu Island and some of the best beaches on the island. There are diving schools in the area that take beginner as well as experienced divers out to some of the best diving spots around the island. It is also possible to engage in other water sports, such as paragliding. San Fernando is most famous for the Sikoy Sikoy festival, when the town's residents come out en masse to give thanks for the gift of love that God bestowed upon them and pray for a bountiful harvest. There are limited points of interest in the municipality, although visitors should take half a day to see the San Isidro Labrador Church. For more sights, including Magellan's Cross, head to nearby Cebu City, which is about a 20-minute drive away. Visit our Cebu Travel Guide
