Introduction to Iquitos, Peru

The Peruvian town of Iquitos is the gateway to the many Iquitos hotels and lodges along the Amazon River. It is a wonderful region to visit and hotels in Iquitos practice eco-tourism. Most hotels in Iquitos are reached by boat along the Amazon River which gives you a great introduction to the region. Along the way you will see many interesting examples of flora and fauna; this is a wonderful place for nature lovers. Many of the lodges along the river organize jungle walks, night safari walks, bird watching tours or trips to visit the indigenous people of the Boras or Yaguas. Most of the hotels in Iquitos offer package tours which as well as the accommodation; include the cost of all meals and the river transportation. Drinks are extra tours are extra cost. The best way to get to Iquitos is by air, many people fly here from Cusco.
