Introduction to Arequipa, Peru
The lovely Peruvian city of Arequipa is the second largest city in Peru and a popular stop with visitors on their way to Macchu Pichu. The city is nicknamed the White City because many of the city’s buildings including many of Arequipa hotels are built out of white stone. The city is overlooked by three snow-capped volcanoes, Misti, Pichu Pichu and el Chachani. Many of Arequipa hotels have a view of the volcano backdrop. In the historic district of the city, you will find many of Arequipa hotels located close to the Plaza de Armas. Here you will find many old historic buildings, museums and churches. A fascinating and peaceful place to visit is the Convent of Santa Cantelina de Siena, it’s a huge complex, a walled citadel with narrow alleys and an amazing history. You will never look at nuns quite the same way again, there’s a pleasant cafe within the convent too.other spellings: hotelarequipa, otel inareqiupa, arequepa hote, araquipa hotell, hotes areguipa, arrequipa
