Bocas del Toro - trek through the native forest
The region around Bocas del Toro offers some superb opportunities to trek through the native forest and observe the diverse flora and fauna of the region. Very few of the forests in the archipelago have trails, so it is easy to imagine you are alone in the jungle, except for the noise made by the numerous monkeys and birds that inhabit the region, but they can sometimes be hard to spot.Isla Colon - go surfing
There are numerous opportunities to go surfing in Panama, especially around Isla Colon, with its great waves, suitable for all different grades. For inexperienced surfers there are several sites that regularly have 4-6 feet waves, and for the more experienced try out “Silver Backs” where there are normally very large 10-20 feet waves. The Bridge of the Americas connects North and South America. It is part of the Interamerican Highway, that passes over the Panama Canal. Taking 3 years to complete, the bridge replaced the ferry that used to transport vehicles across the canal, and remnants of the ferry docks can still be seen.
