Weather

Weather in Muscat
August is the most humid month. Visitors, especially very light-skinned ones, are therefore advised to cover up in the day in light clothing and sunglasses with hats and sunblock.
Temperatures generally peak around June and July. In 2007, June turned out to be a particularly devastating month weather-wise when category-five cyclone Gonu rolled into the city, the strongest tropical storm ever recorded on the Arabian Peninsula.
By October, the temperature begins to drop as the days get shorter. In the day it remains pleasantly warm with temperatures dropping at night. December and January are especially mild – if you venture out into the desert at this time of year make sure to take a long-sleeve top.
Most of the rainfall occurs during this period but rarely are there more than two days of rain per month. January sees the most rain with an average of 28mm. Very seldom is there any rainfall at all between May and September, the hottest and driest period of the year.
