Disgustingly hot from March to October and pleasantly warm for the other half of the year, Muscat is an Arabic capital with an emphasis on tradition, meaning it is largely dominated by gleaming white low-rise buildings with an increasing number of space-age skyscrapers thrown in for good measure. Conversely, the city is surprisingly green for the capital of a desert sultanate.
