Muscat Travel Guide
By air:

Seeb International Airport is some 40kms outside of downtown Muscat on a main highway leading into the city and presents the only realistic option for arriving in the Omani capital by air. Muscat is increasingly well-connected with regular flights to all major cities in the region, particularly Dubai, Bahrain, Amman and Doha.
Flights to India and Pakistan are also frequent; so too London, which is the main connection with Europe. The only domestic flight into Muscat is from the southern city of Salalah, although few international travellers enter via this route.
Passengers should expect to be held up at the border for up to an hour and a half while passports and visas are checked. Most travellers from North America, Western Europe and Australasia qualify for visa-on-arrival at the Omani border but check beforehand.
By car:

It is possible to reach Muscat by road in a private vehicle or taxi from Dubai and even Abu Dhabi, both in the UAE. Visas will not be a problem but hiring a car is likely to be. Taxis are expensive and there is the danger that you won’t find transport once you get over the other side of the Omani border.
