Bergen Travel Guide - Getting There
By air: Bergen's International Airport is situated 14 miles from the city at Flesland. As well as domestic routes, there are also flights to European destinations including Copenhagen, Amsterdam and UK cities such as London, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Buses and taxis are available for the transfer to the city centre.
By rail: the main railway line runs to Oslo and the journey time is six to eight hours, depending on the type of train you take. It is a relaxing way to travel as the trains are comfortable and there are some beautiful views over the mountains and countryside.
By bus: long-distance buses travel between Bergen and Oslo up to five times each day. The journey takes between 10 and 11 hours and buses depart from the Nor-Way bus terminal. There are also services to Trondheim and Alesund from the Central Bus Station at Stromgaten 8.
By ferry: Bergen has a year-round ice-free harbour and all international ferries dock at Skoltegrunnskaien. Car ferries run to and from Newcastle and the Shetland Islands, with onward connections to Aberdeen in Scotland. Fjord Line has a service to Hantsholm in Denmark, stopping at Egersund in Norway along the way.
