Introduction to Ulvik, Norway

Ulvik is little more than a village in Hordaland County that sits in a fairly remote part of Norway. Visitors wanting to stay at one of the hotels in Ulvik are faced with a two hour drive from Bergen, the closest airport, or they can take the train to the Norwegian railway system’s highest station at nearby Finse. There is a choice of four hotels in Ulvik and they are all owned by the same company which ensures a similar level of service in each. The village is also a port of call for a number of cruise ships during the summer and these can swell the population considerably. The village centre, Brakanes, boasts a cinema in addition to several shops has a cinema as well as a few shops but there are few other amenities. If you are staying in one of the Ulvik hotels you can usually use the facilities of the others in the chain.
