Introduction to Trysil, Norway
The town of Trysil is located in the interior of southern Norway. For most of the year, the area is busy with its traditional industries of logging and agriculture. Many people visit the vast wilderness areas filled with a rich variety of flora and fauna, including a big elk population. Come winter, however, the region's many winter sports areas attract large numbers of outdoors sports fans to stay at hotels in Trysil. It was back in 1862 that the town held one of the earliest ski races. The local Trysilglutten ski club was established a year earlier and is one of the world's oldest. Popular activities include hiking, cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing. The biggest draw, however, is the vast winter sports complex at Trysilfjellet. Counting 65 prepared ski slopes, this is the biggest downhill ski centre in the country. The area is also popular with anglers, many of whom enjoy a variety of fishing styles in the Trysil River. Even if you're not up for baiting a hook and casting into the waters, the riverside offers wonderful scenery, which is easily enjoyed thanks to the nearby Route 25 and Route 26. The town is just 30 minutes' drive from the border with Sweden.other spellings: trysel otel, trisil hotell, tryzil hote, trysilhotels, trysil hotle, trysel hotes
