Introduction to Tromso - Airport
Situated on the coast of the Norwegian Sea, Tromso Airport is a large international hub serving the city of Tromso and its surrounding districts in the Arctic Circle region of Norway. It is certainly the largest airport in north Norway, carrying some 1.5 million passengers and over 40,000 aircraft movements each year. It is located in the northwestern area of Tromsoya Island, about three kilometres from the largest city in the area. Taxis, city buses and airport shuttles offer transportation options for visitors, and Tromso Airport hotels can be found conveniently close to the main terminal building. From the terminal, visitors can reach many of the region's main attractions in less than 15 minutes. The Tromso Museum, which is home to many interesting exhibits about the local area, is only four kilometres from the airport. Another site worth visiting, just one kilometre from the airport, is the large Prestvannet Lake.
