Introduction to Strandebarm, Norway
The Norwegian community of Strandebarm occupies an attractive location along the northern shores of the Hardangerfjord. The town sits on fairly placid land between the hills and the sea. The immediate surroundings are incredibly pretty and though they are a tad less dramatic than some other parts of the country, the huge snow-capped mountains dominating the skyline across the fjord easily make up for any lack in the breathtaking scenery department. The town enjoys plenty of gently undulating greenery, and visitors keen to lodge closer to nature than afforded by hotels in Strandebarm will appreciate the town's pretty beachside camping area. The town's neo-Gothic church which sits near the beach dates from the late 19th century but features a beautiful altarpiece painted in the 11th century. Some of the more dramatic scenery is located a few miles inland from the town, with the views occasionally peeping through breaks in the alpine forests that line many of the highways. The area is relatively rich in prehistoric petroglyphs, some of them dating back 5,000 years. Salthameren, about 20kms to the east, is home to rock drawings from both the Stone and Bronze ages.other spellings: strandebam otel, strandeberm hotell, strandebam hote, strandebarmhotels
