Introduction to Storslett, Norway
Some 1,500 people live in the pleasant village of Storslett, which sits in Norway's Troms county, near the sea, in the far north of the country. Though the town itself offers only a limited number of sites of interest to tourists, hotels in Storslett provide great access to a wide range of regional attractions. As with many similar communities in Norway, the village is set amid breathtaking natural scenery, with nearby rolling hills leading towards some incredibly sculpted small mountains, and snow-capped peaks often visible in the distance. The most prominent peaks in the area are probably the sharply-contoured Stor Ste and Jyppyra, both of which lie about 10kms south of the village. Farther to the south, about 30kms along Highway 865, is the Reisadalen Valley, home to many epic waterfalls, the best-known of which is the 269m-high Mollisfossen. Halti National Park Visitor Centre is located in the village, though the region's most popular park is located some 50kms to the south. The retreating German army destroyed virtually everything in the village in WWII but one old trading post was left at Havnnes, about 25kms away.other spellings: storslet otel, storslett hotell, storslatt hote, storsletthotels, stoslet hotle, storlet
