Introduction to Oslo - Airport
Two airports serve the Norwegian capital, the primary one being Oslo Airport Gardermoen, which is the second-busiest air terminal in Scandinavia and a hub for both Norwegian Air Shuttle and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). This facility is commonly referred to as just Oslo Airport and is set some 50kms north of Oslo's centre in Gardermoen, Ullensaker. Set adjacent to the airport is the town of Jessheim, which features a number of Oslo Airport hotels; however, several more are situated on the west side of the runway. This main gateway to the country is not only convenient to Oslo's attractions, such as the Nobel Peace Center, the evocative 13th century Akershus Fortress, the thrilling Holmenkollen Ski Museum & Tower and the culture-rich Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, but also to the expansive wilderness of the country.
