Introduction to Norddal, Norway
The village of Norddal sits in an eponymously-named municipality on the western coast of Norway, in the county of Oppland. The village nestles between two craggy mountains, in verdant valley that opens out onto the Norddalsfjorden, the northern arm of the Storfjorden, the region's main fjord. Natural scenery is the star in these parts, and there is plenty to explore. There are near-infinite options for hiking, climbing and sightseeing. The massive Kallskaret nature reserve, which covers a range of impressive mountains, starts very close to the town. The Herdalsvatnet alpine lake is less than 15 minutes' drive to the south. The neighbouring village of Eidsal, about five minutes to the west, offers a ferry crossing to the other side of the fjord. Eidsdal is one of the stops on the 'Golden Route', a popular tourist road running through Geirganger and on to Romsdal and Trollstigen. This is also where drivers can get on National Route 63, the most important highway in the region. The village of Sylte, about half an hour away on far side of the fjord, is home to a very pretty church. Accommodation is available in many of these communities, including hotels in Norddal.other spellings: norddalhotels, nordal hote, norddla hotell, nroddal otel, norddel hotle norway
