Introduction to Molde - City Centre
Set in the Romsdal region on Norway's west coast, Molde enjoys a coastal climate that is significantly milder than that of interior Norway, and is wedged between the shores of the Romsdalsfjord and the lush mountains to the north. From the centre of town, there are fantastic views of the fjord and a good portion of the 222 massive, snow-capped peaks spread across Romsdal. The centre of town is not far from the ferry wharf, and one can find a good selection of Molde City Centre hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and historic attractions within a few metres of the waterfront. From here, visitors often begin daytrips to the many natural wonders of the region, including the seaside Atlantic Road as well as the Trollstigen Road, which is Norway's most visited roadway for tourists; it boasts an unmatched natural panorama of pines, peaks and waterfalls. The surrounding area provides some of the best hiking, climbing, skiing, trekking and fishing anywhere in the region. There's plenty to do in town, too; to begin, one can check out the Romsdal Museum, an impressive folk-centred establishment composed of more than 50 traditional structures and dozens of exhibits.
