Introduction to Kristiansand - City Centre
Kristiansand is located in the southern region of Norway and is famous for its rugged coastline, white wooden houses and bustling harbours. The famous Quart music festival is held in the city each year. The city dates back to 1641 when it was founded by King Christian IV who laid down the streets in a square pattern. Many of the best Kristiansand hotels are situated in the city centre’s Kvadraturen district on the western harbour, which is the older part of the city. Here visitors can marvel at the Kristiansand Domkirke cathedral. There is plenty to do in the city, and local yellow and white buses make it easy to get around. The local fish market, Iskebrygga, is a great place to grab an ice cream and watch the boats anchor around the waterfront.
