Introduction to Hermannsverk, Norway
The town of Hermannsverk, also frequently spelled Hermansverk, is situated on the northern shore of the Sognefjord, Norway's deepest and longest fjord. This town was named after a merchant who worked here during the 1840s, and forms an urban area informally known as Systrond together with the neighbouring community of Leikanger. Many Hermannsverk hotels overlook the Sognefjord and can arrange daytrips to nearby landmarks such as Naeroyfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Jostedalsbreen Glacier. However, attractions found much closer to Hermannsverk include several deep sea fishing opportunities in the fjords and one of Norway's best fruit growing areas. Walnuts, apricots, peaches and tree species which rarely grow north of California all thrive in this relatively warm region whose average temperature is above 13°C. The three Sognefjord Spans east of Leikanger are presently the world's second, third and fourth-longest bridges. Brightly coloured rainbows are common summer sights while driving past Kvinna Waterfall.other spellings: hermannsverk otel, hermannswerk hotell, hermannsvork hote, hermannsverkhotels
