Introduction to Geiranger, Norway
Geiranger is a small town at the top end of Geirangerfjord. Geirangerfjord, a tributary of Storfjord, is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. There are several choices of Geiranger hotels as well as a number of camp sites in the town. The hotels in Geiranger are located around the head of the fjord close to the ferry port. There are a few shops, cafs and restaurants in the vicinity of the port, near the Geiranger hotels. The port offers an opportunity of taking a fjord cruise. The Bridal Veil (Brudesloret) and Seven Sisters (De Syv Sostrene) are the two most famous waterfalls, of the many that cascade off the sheer sides of Geirangerfjord’s mountains. Geiranger hotels are a good base for joining in the activities afforded by the region. Hiking, fishing, canoeing, rafting and summer skiing are all popular activities. Stryn, one of the country’s high-altitude ski resorts, is near to Geiranger.
