Introduction to Geilo, Norway
Geilo is a renowned ski resort in southern Norway, midway between Oslo and Bergen. Hotels in Geilo are dotted around the centre of the resort, which is not really much larger than a village. There is a wide range of accommodation catering for the many skiers that arrive in the season. Geilo boasts 40 ski slopes and over 200kms of cross country ski trails, of which five kilometres is floodlit. Hotels here a central for a lively apres-ski scene. Several of them have bars and cafes that are an integral part of the activities. This destination is also a summer outdoor sports place and offers activities which include hiking, white water rafting, golf and mountain biking. There are also facilities for tennis, indoor surfing and paintballing. The village centre and the Geilo hotels offer provisions for hikers embarking on longer treks.
