Introduction to Elverum, Norway
The town of Elverum in northeast Norway has become an important transportation hub between the town of Hamar to its west and the Swedish municipality of Trysil. Norway's capital, Oslo, lies just 135kms from this town, which us considered to be the nation's forest capital. The most centrally located of Elverum hotels lies in the middle of the main street and contains a bar, a nightclub and three restaurants. Many smaller traditionally decorated guesthouses with home cooking lie just a few minutes away from the city centre. The Norwegian Forestry Museum alone welcomes over 110,000 visitors each year, ranking it among Norway's most popular museums. Bridges across the Glomma River, which flows through the middle of the town, connect the forestry museum to another major museum, the open-air Glomdal Museum, one of Norway's biggest outdoor museums.
