Bergen is Norway’s second largest city and has a rich and interesting history. It is located on a peninsula of land which juts out into a fjord, offering stunning views of a beautiful and rugged landscape. The city has a low skyline of red-tiled roofs and contains many sites of interest to the visitor. Floibanen Funicular Railway transports people over 1,000 feet up the Floyfjell Mountain in about eight minutes. There are some stunning views from the top over the city and offshore islands. A restaurant and shops are open during the summer months and there are plenty of good walkways to explore. The funicular can be found a few short blocks from historic Bryggen by the docks.
