Introduction to Asgardstrand, Norway
The idyllic town of Asgardstrand is one of southern Norway's most popular getaways. It is widely regarded as an artist town, both for the outstanding scenery that surrounds the town as well as the quantity of artists who live here. Visitors will notice there are an unusually large proportion of art galleries in the heart of Asgardstrand. This sense of creativity and genteel sophistication is what lures tourists here, especially in summer. An excellent array of restaurants and shops rounds off the experience. Edvard Munch once lived here, and his tiny house is now a museum dedicated to his work. Some of his greatest works were painted around Asgardstrand, including the Bridge and the Dance of Life. The town is located on the Oslofjord and has a picturesque marina and waterfront area. White-washed homes and narrow streets create an inspiring scene, and it is easy to see why artists flock here. Some of the nicer Asgardstrand hotels are situated right on the water by the Oslofjord. other spellings: asgadstrand otel, asgardstand hotell, asgardstand hote, asgardstrend hotes
