Introduction to Ardalstangen, Norway
Smack in the heart of Norway's fjord country is the small village of Ardalstangen. It is situated right on the edge of the Ardalsfjord, which in turn is a branch of the mighty Sognefjord. Naturally, water plays a big role in the local landscape along with dramatic barren mountains. Most visitors come here to enjoy the outdoor scenery and to hike or boat. Ardalstangen hotels provide comfortable lodging for these tourists, who mostly arrive during the summer months. There are just enough places to eat, drink and shop in Ardalstangen to make a holiday completely enjoyable, but don't expect a huge array of amenities or anything too trendy or luxurious. Jotuheimen National Park is located at the southern end of the lake where some of Norway's premier hiking and fishing is found. The historic farms of Vetti, Avdalen and Vettismorki are also a short drive from the village, offering a touch of heritage to complement the incredible nature on hand.
