Belfast Travel Guide
By air: there are two airports that serve the city and the one that you will use depends on where you fly from. The larger Belfast International Airport (BFS) is located 20 miles away and serves a good choice of destinations in Europe and North America.
The renamed George Best Belfast City Airport is only a few miles from the city centre and has routes to the UK and Ireland. Both airports have good facilities and can easily be reached by bus, train or car.
By road: driving to Belfast from other parts of the country is straight forward, and the main roads leading into the city are the A1, A20, A21 and the A22.
By ferry: Norfolk Line Irish Sea has two daily crossings from Liverpool Birkenhead, taking approximately 10 hours. Stena Line operates a much faster catamaran boat from Stranraer in Scotland as well as more traditional and slower ferries. There are also three crossings per week from Douglas in the Isle of Man.
The ticket includes the fast ferry crossing from Stranraer. Ulsterbus runs the intercity network in Northern Ireland and has a good service to Dublin, taking about three hours.
