Belfast Travel Guide
Taxi: can be hailed from the street or booked in advance by using one of the private hire companies. They operate on a metered fare system so journeys work out more expensive than other forms of public transport.
Belfast is also known for its Black Taxi tours of the city, which last for about two hours and are given by drivers who have worked through The Troubles. There are also shared taxi routes in the north and west areas that run between fixed locations.
Bus: Belfast's urban bus network is known as the metro, and has a comprehensive schedule of services in the city centre and the suburbs. All journeys begin and end at either the Europa or Laganside bus stations. The network is easy to understand and buses operate along colour coded routes that radiate out from the centre.
Most services run from approximately 06:00 to 23:00, and there is a metro information kiosk on the north-western side of Donegall square. Timetables and tourist passes are available from here.
