Introduction to Magherafelt, Northern Ireland
The largest town in the south of County Londonderry is Magherafelt, a typical Northern Ireland community of 7,000 people. Travellers in search of an authentic Ulster Irish atmosphere will find plenty of it here. There are a dozen or so pubs around the centre of town where locals congregate over pints and live music, as well as a decent restaurant scene. There aren't any tourist attractions in town though the three church spires that rise above the urban landscape create a pretty scene. Most visitors use Magherafelt as a base for exploring the Sperrin Mountains or Lough Neagh, both of which are just outside the perimeter of town. Boating and fishing on the River Bann, golf at one of the many quality courses in the area and walking on the network of paths that crisscross the hills are just some of the outdoor activities on offer. Take a drive on one of the Sperrin Scenic Routes then head back to Magherafelt hotels to rest up for another day in southern Ulster. other spellings: magherafelthotels, magherafel hotell, megherafelt otel, maghurafelt hote
