The historic city of Londonderry (Derry) is in Northern Ireland close to its border with the Republic of Ireland. The city is on the River Foyle and a number of the Londonderry hotels are close to the river. Some of the hotels in Londonderry are on Queen’s Quay offering river views. Londonderry’s old city is ringed by 17th century city walls that are intact and can be walked around offering fine views of the city. A good proportion of the city’s eateries and nightlife venues are contained within the city walls and are conveniently reached from Londonderry hotels. Londonderry boasts myriad shops, including a 180 year old department store, Austin’s, and has two shopping centres in the old city, with more in the suburbs. Londonderry hotels provide a good base for days out to Lough Foyle, and its nature reserve, and the seaside village of Castle Rock, 40kms away.
