The large seaport and industrial town of Larne is situated on the coast in County Antrim. The town is primarily a point of transport for freight and passengers arriving by sea. There are no tourist attractions of note within this working town though Carnfunnock Country Park is just three miles away, offering 191 hectares of woodlands, gardens, coastal scenery and hiking trails. The Museum and Arts Centre is a good place in town to get a picture of the heritage of this coastal corner of Northern Ireland. Of course, there is a wide range of places to eat, drink and spend money in town as well as a number of hotels in Larne catering to travellers arriving by ferry. There are also some decent outdoor recreation opportunities, such as golfing, water sports, horseback riding and cycling. Ancient sites like Olderfleet Castle and the Black Arch make for great excursions and are just a short drive from the centre of Larne.
