In County Tyrone is the unpretentious and tidy working-class town of Dungannon. The highlight is Dungannon Park, a 70-acre oasis right in town surrounding a lovely lake with miles of paths for walking and biking. This is a local favourite, so there is always a nice scene of people here. Several other good parks are located in and around town, such as Parkanaur Forest Park and Benburb Valley Park. The latter is a particularly nice spot as its trails lead up to ancient Benburb Castle. The centre of Dungannon has several squares and commercial streets where visitors will find a great mix of local shops, pubs and places to eat. Several well-known golf courses are located just outside of town, and there is also great fishing and other local sporting activities available. The downtown historic inns are perhaps the best choice of Dungannon hotels as they offer excellent locations along with affordable rates.
