Carrickfergus is a town in Northern Ireland, on the country’s scenic eastern coast. It is a beautiful and historical town, only around 13 miles to the northeast of the exciting and bustling capital city, Belfast. The best and most popular of the hotels in Carrickfergus are located along the seafront, with beautiful sea views of Belfast Lough. The waterfront is close to the famous Carrickfergus Castle, which sits majestically overlooking the Belfast Lough. The west of the town, known as the West Division, is unique from the more upscale Middle Division. The latter is where visitors will find the best local shops, restaurants and bars. Carrick, as the town is locally known, is most commonly visited for its 12th century Norman castle, now decaying but still in a remarkable state of preservation. A pleasant place to stroll or dine while admiring moored yachts is the marina. Rail services between the town and Belfast are frequent.
